Case study
Covered composite deck with a dry space below in Douglas County, GA
One build, two places to sit outside: a covered TimberTech deck up top, and a dry, shaded space beneath it.
The deck adds 364 square feet of TimberTech Prime+ composite in Sea Salt Gray, with 246 square feet of it under a new shingled roof and a copper-tone aluminum ceiling. Underneath, a matching copper-tone aluminum drainage system catches the rain that falls between the deck boards, so the 364 square feet below stay dry. Out front, a new entry deck in the same composite and rail.
The story
We built this deck to work on both levels. A 19-foot LVL beam carries the roof, so there's no post in the middle of the view, and doubled LVL beams under the deck mean fewer posts in the space below. The same copper-tone aluminum finishes both ceilings, so the deck and the space under it look like one design.
- 364 sq ft of TimberTech Prime+ composite decking in Sea Salt Gray: picture-frame design, hidden fasteners and Cortex plugs at the edges, on a frame waterproofed with butyl tape
- 246 sq ft lean-to roof with GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles over plywood, synthetic underlayment and ice-and-water shield
- A 19-foot LVL beam across the front of the roof, so there's no center post
- Copper-tone interlocking aluminum ceiling under the roof, with white PVC trim and wiring for a ceiling fan
- Black TimberTech Impression Rail Express aluminum railing with square balusters and a classic top rail
- 10 composite stairs, 5 feet wide, with TimberTech Prime+ fascia
- 364 sq ft copper-tone aluminum under-deck drainage system with a built-in gutter, plus drainage under the stairs
- Doubled LVL beams under the deck, so fewer posts stand in the space below
- White PVC wraps on 11 posts, so the posts need no upkeep
- Gutters with solid gutter guards, white downspouts and 2 outdoor outlets
- A 72 sq ft front entry deck in matching TimberTech Prime+, with black aluminum rail and a black composite skirt with an access door
Quality is checked through third-party inspections and code approval. You have a direct line to an owner throughout every project.
It's a roofed build, so it carries our 10-year workmanship warranty, in the signed contract. TimberTech's own 25-year product, fade and stain limited warranty covers the decking.
