Wood, Steel & Aluminum Deck Framing in Metro Atlanta
Before choosing the boards, consider what supports them. Compare wood, steel and TimberTech aluminum framing within your complete new-build design.

The boards are the finish. The frame is the foundation of the design.
Framing is a choice within a complete new-build project, not a separate surface upgrade. Compare the structure together with its footings, connections and decking requirements.
TimberTech aluminum framing
A TimberTech aluminum frame stays perfectly flat and never rots, warps or molds — no joist tape needed. A 2×8 aluminum joist spans like a 2×12 in wood, so designs can run longer spans with fewer posts. It carries a Class A fire rating and a Lifetime Limited Warranty on major components.
Pressure-treated wood
A common framing material with familiar construction methods. Water exposure, treatment suitability, hardware and detailing all influence performance; the design must account for the selected decking.
Steel framing
A system worth comparing when dimensional stability and the structural layout are priorities. Connections, corrosion protection, system requirements and installed cost need to be evaluated for the actual site.
Decking compatibility
PVC and composite boards have specific span and fastening requirements. Board direction, stairs and picture-frame details can change the supporting structure.

The details worth thinking through.
Design for the intended loads
A roof, an enclosure or unusually heavy features can change what the structure needs to support. Raise those plans early rather than assuming a standard deck frame will cover them.
Plan moisture management
Flashing at the house, drainage and protection around connections matter regardless of the chosen material. Framing and water management should be discussed together.
Compare complete prices
A material-only comparison misses hardware, labor, footings and finishing. Review what is included in each structural option before deciding which is better value.

Is steel always the better choice?
No single material is best for every site and budget. The right choice depends on the layout, loads, exposure, compatible decking and complete installed cost.
Can the existing frame support a new roof?
Do not assume it can. Roof loads and connections need professional evaluation. A newly designed structure lets those requirements be considered from the start.
Are we a good fit?
We focus exclusively on new builds — decks, screen rooms and sunrooms — and do not repair or add onto existing structures.
Our projects generally start around $40,000. The layout, materials and site conditions determine the written price.
