Shade, fresh air and room to gather

Covered Decks & Screened Porches in Metro Atlanta

What would make you spend more time outside? A roof for shade, screens for insects, or a comfortable place to gather after sunset.

A little shade, or a room without the bugs?

A covered deck and a screened porch solve different problems. Start with what keeps you from enjoying your backyard today, then choose the enclosure that fits.

Covered deck

A roof provides shade and shelter while keeping the sides open to the yard. It can suit dining and gathering when an open-air feel matters more than insect protection.

Screen room (three-season room)

Screens help reduce insects while letting air move through. Think about doors, pets and views as well as seating. Screens do not make the space fully weatherproof or turn it into a heated indoor room.

Usable space below

An elevated layout may offer room beneath the deck. Drainage, headroom, grading and access determine whether that area can become a comfortable patio rather than simply storage.

Built around your priorities.

Gabled and shed roofs, cedar tongue-and-groove ceilings, fans, lights, infrared heaters and under-deck dry space.

The details worth thinking through.

Make the roof belong

A gable or shed roof affects ceiling height, water runoff and how the addition meets the house. Existing windows, rooflines and the structure below help determine what works.

Plan comfort early

Fans, lighting, outlets and heaters are easier to coordinate before construction. Decide where people will sit, whether a television matters and how you want to use the space after dark.

Keep water moving away

Roof drainage and ground drainage deserve attention together. Gutters, downspouts and any under-deck system need a discharge plan that suits the site.

A few questions you may be wondering about.

Will a screened porch stay dry in every storm?

No. Wind-driven rain can enter through screens. Flooring, furniture and electrical choices should suit an outdoor environment; a fully enclosed room is a different project.

Can a roof darken rooms inside my home?

Yes, depending on its depth, orientation and relationship to existing windows. Discuss the daylight tradeoff while considering the roof design and layout.

Should I choose a screened porch or a sunroom?

Choose screening when you want airflow and an outdoor feel. Consider a sunroom when enclosure and a longer usable season matter more. Heating, cooling and insulation change both the scope and the investment.

Are we a good fit?

We focus exclusively on new builds — decks, screen rooms and sunrooms — and do not repair or add onto existing structures.

Our projects generally start around $40,000. The layout, materials and site conditions determine the written price.
